Reflection on Video
WWW - The style of the video is
what I wanted mostly which was good and consistent. This meant that the mise-en-scene
was good and especially with the makeup and location it all worked very well together.
The footage that I filmed and used worked really well with the song and was mostly
planned out carefully and what I wanted. The outfit that I chose is something I
am really happy with as the white of the jacket contrasted nicely with the dark
of the video which was effective when edited in the way I wanted. I think the
editing went well as I tried very hard to fit the transitions and videos to the
beat of the song, especially the ‘g-g-g-get outta here’ part in which I very
carefully cut up the video to fit perfectly with each instance of the ‘g’ in
the song. The glitch effects also worked well with the beginning of the video
and made it feel quite imperfect which I wanted as the video is supposed to be
a sort of descent into madness. The makeup also was very effective as when edited
the black and white of the eyes and face contrasted really well and looked how I
imagined it to.
EBI – The ending of the video wasn’t
exactly how I wanted it to be as due to lack of preparation I didn’t have the costume
that I wanted for that part or the lighting which meant that I had to edit it
to seem clearer however that meant that it blended in too much with the rest of
the video rather than being the complete contrast that I wanted for that
section. I should have edited it differently to brighten it and show how
different it should be. Another issue is some of the footage is repeated and
whilst parts of this is deliberate, I should’ve over filmed more so that I didn’t
have to repeat so much and still be able to cut out the bits of footage that I
wasn’t happy with when looking back over it. One of the shots was in different dimensions
as well and bordered. I should’ve noticed this when editing and cropped it to
fit with the other scenes. The fact that my Storyboard was vague didn’t help
the fact that I didn’t have enough footage so I should have planned that more
carefully to avoid the under filming. Some of the scenes that I used were
unclear too, perhaps due to editing or bad filming as some were angled in a way
that I wasn’t happy with. I also struggled with some of the words to the song
as it is unclear what the vocalist is saying so hard to translate to lip-syncing
which made the lip-sync look slightly out of time in certain places.
